Analysis of Tyre Problems Ⅲ Sidewall

1. Sidewall Delamination

Symptoms: Delamination occurs between the sidewall rubber and the carcass, and the interface is smooth.

Causes: ① Insufficient adhesion among sidewall parts. 

              ② Water, gasoline and other impurities were left among the parts of the sidewall. 

              ③ During molding, the rubber of the sidewall was not firmly pressed, etc.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

2. “U” Explosion

Symptoms: The "U" explosion and the delamination of the wedge and the carcass wire happened on the shoulder. The interface was smooth, and the steel wires were shiny or golden yellow.

Causes: ① Insufficient adhesion among parts of wedge. 

              ② The rubber was not firmly adhesive.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

3. “U” Explosion

Symptoms: The "U" explosion and the delamination of the wedge and the carcass wire happened on the shoulder. High saturation of rubber materials among steel wires, the interface was smooth, and the steel wires were shiny.

Causes: ① Insufficient adhesion among parts of wedge.

              ② Water, gasoline and other impurities were left among the parts.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

4. Side Bulging(Virtual Bulging)

Symptoms:The sidewall is radially "raised", which is relatively obvious in the inflated state.

Causes: During tyre manufacturing, the carcass cords are unevenly arranged or the joints of them are open.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

5. Side Bulging Caused by Puncture

Symptoms:The sidewall is radially "bulging", which is relatively obvious in the inflated state. 

                   There were obvious puncture marks on the corresponding tyre crown.

Causes: During the usage of the tyre, the carcass was damaged and broken due to the puncture of the crown.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

6. Side Bulging Caused by Bead Damage

Symptoms:The sidewall is radially "bulging", which is relatively obvious in the inflated state. There were obvious puncture marks of the bead.

Causes:① During the usage of the tyre, the edge of the rim or the clamping ring breaks, damaging the bead and causing bulging on the sidewall.

             ② Tyre’s installation and removal are not standard. The bead is damaged, and the sidewall bulges under inflation.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

7. Side Bulging(Real Bulging)

Symptoms:The sidewall is radially "bulging", which is relatively obvious in the inflated state.

Causes: In the tyre manufacturing, the joints of the inner liner are too big, and the carcass cords were squeezed and deformed when the tyre was vulcanized.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

8. Splits on Bead Rubber

Symptoms:At the waterproof line of bead, there is delamination occurs in the radial direction.

                   The interface is smooth, and has a certain slope.

Causes:① Insufficient adhesion among joints of bead rubber.

             ② Water, gasoline and other impurities were left among the parts.

Liability attribution: Manufacturing issues.

9. Cut and Blast

Symptoms:The sidewall wires were cut and broken in zipper style with obvious cut marks. 

                   The endpoints of the wires were cut off.

Causes: The tyre was driving under high air pressure and heavy load, and the sidewall was cut by road obstacles or sharp objects, causing blasting.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

10. Blasting in Zipper Style(Crushing)

Symptoms:In the kerbing rib of the sidewall, the carcass wires were blasted in a zipper style; The air pressure is obviously low and the tyre has crushing marks.

Causes: Due to insufficient air pressure or mismatch between air pressure and load, the carcass wires are excessively flexed. The strength decreases causing blasting.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

11. Cut and Blast

Symptoms:Irregular radial cracks in the sidewall with obvious scratch marks on the surface.

Causes:The sidewall is punctured or cut by sharp objects such as stones, iron plates, nails, etc., causing bursting.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

12. Stabbing Blast

Symptoms:Irregular radial cracks in the sidewall with obvious stabbing marks on the surface.

Causes:The sidewall is punctured or penetrated by sharp objects such as stones, iron plates, nails, etc., causing blasting.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

13. Carcass Crushing

Symptoms:There were many radial cracks on the sidewall, and the carcass wires were broken.

Causes: The carcass was pierced by external objects and leaked. If continue to drive, the sidewall will be crushed by the rim and the steel wires are going to break.

Liability attribution: Usage problems.

14. Wear from Impurities

Symptoms:There are obvious squeeze marks on the sidewall, which can causage the carcass steel wires to break and burst in severe cases.

Causes:Foreign objects such as stones are caught between double tyres in driving, causing wear.
